FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF) by Pinnacle Customs – Automotive Protection & Design.

What is Paint Protection Film or PPF?

PPF is a clear, thermoplastic urethane film made from 100% aliphatic resin. It's ability to resist yellowing and offer the highest level of abrasion resistance is unparalleled in the industry.

Pinnacle Customs uses the toughest chip protection film on the market. Combining excellent elastic properties and 99.5% optical clarity with a high shear and tack adhesive.

Will Paint Protection Film be visible on my car after installation? Will I see a line where the film stops?
The answer to this question depends on how far you are standing away from the vehicle and the coverage size installed.

If you are standing more than three feet away, it will be difficult to see the line where the film stops. If you are standing closer than three feet, you may see the line.

Of course, full coverage installs do not have a line across the hood and fenders but there will always be some edges that will have lines in order for the film to be wrapped. These edges are minor and inconspicuous and can only be seen upon close inspection.

How long will it last, when will I have to replace it?

Our films are warrantied for 10 years, but proper care will only help to prolong the life of the material. Frequent washing and waxing is recommended similar to the care of your car’s painted surface. Applications of high quality automotive wax after installation and at frequent intervals will help retain the luster and performance of the product. (Waxing the material cleans the surface and adds moisture to the film similar to the painted surface.)

Will the paint fade differently under the paint protection film than the rest of the car?

No. The protective film’s material contains UV inhibitors to prevent the protective film from reacting to the sun’s rays, but still allows a certain amount to filter through the material and onto the surface to let the paint “age” with the rest of the vehicle.

Will it really stop rocks from chipping the car?

Yes. The material was originally designed to stop chips on Helicopter rotor blades and airplane propellers. It is much easier for the product to protect your vehicle’s paint than a propeller moving at nearly the speed of sound.
